Briston Black and White Broken Prince of Wales Escorial Wool and Silk Jacket

Style Notes

In a double-breasted, monochrome multi-houndstooth pattern, the wool and silk Briston jacket has all the makings of a classic. However, the outerwear subverts tradition in a dramatic yet wearable way through its broken Prince of Wales pattern. Stripes are replaced with ebony ripples - made to look like tears in the fabric - to disjoint the base and create an effect that is somehow both statement and subtle.

Nevertheless, the most admirable quality of this expertly crafted double-breasted design is its Escorial wool and silk construction. This ultra-rare premium wool variation dates back to 1560s Spain; the distinctively curly hair of the El Escorial sheep created a luxuriously soft cloth that was revered in royal circles. It was only 200 years later that these sheep were allowed to be bred outside of Spain, in Saxony; now there is only a small number of flock descendants left located in Australia.

This AW16 hero has already proven a red carpet favourite among both Brits and talents abroad; the matching trousers load the look to maximum power, just add a pair of jet black shades for an insouciant conclusion.
