Sustainability

Sustainability is integral to our ethos at Turnbull & Asser. By focusing on our suppliers’ environmental impact as well as their approach to employees, we are able to build long-standing relationships with them. This has resulted in long-service employees for ourselves as well as our suppliers, creating reliable employment for many communities.

In 2015, we celebrated our 130-year anniversary, which provided a perfect platform to honour our continuous delivery of high quality shirts, ties and clothing. This still holds true today with careful consideration of materials used, and importantly, the limitations it has. We do not mass produce at the expense of others, but work exclusively to produce only the finest ethical materials.

We take great pride in the longevity of our shirts and offer a re-collar and re-cuffing service for our customers. The process consists of unstitching and recollaring/cuffing by hand, ensuring an unrivalled level of detail and quality control.

Our Workrooms

Gloucester

Our UK-based workrooms enable us to lower our carbon footprint and environmental impact with shipping. Completed orders are now sent directly from the factory to the customer—reducing transport use and excess packaging.

Fabric remnants from the shirt cutting are used to make our boxer shorts and pocket squares, leaving only small parts of material left over. These are then donated to various organisations such as the Gloucester Resource Centre. In addition to this, we supply various sewing groups who create quilts for the incubators in maternity wards at local hospitals.

Sidcup

The cutting process itself does not lend itself to large amounts of waste. The silk remnants that it does produce are given to local initiatives including a local design school and are also used to produce the Turnbull Teddies.
