A Royal Reception

Posted 10.07.20

On Thursday 9th July, HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, visited our Gloucestershire workrooms, to celebrate our wonderful machinists, operators, and management for their contribution in supporting key workers by producing personal protective equipment for the National Health Service, amidst the peak of the Covid-19 crisis.

HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall were warmly greeted by our Gloucester team who had all played their part in the production of scrubs. Their Royal Highnesses spent time thanking and talking with individual members of the team, before signing our workroom’s visitor book. Regardless of the necessary measures in place to aid social distancing, it was observed that both HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, as well as all at Turnbull & Asser, thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.

We are proud to have been able to make some contribution to the cause, and to have this recognised by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall is a real honour. Our team stepped up to support those working tirelessly on the frontline of our National Health Service, and this visit has been the highest acknowledgement of that act of compassion. Many of our team have played a part in making shirts for His Royal Highness, but to meet him today has been something of a highlight for all here in our Gloucester workroom."

Jonathan Tarlton-Weatherall, Supply Chain Director, Turnbull & Asser

Back in March, as the impact of Coivid-19 began to be felt across the globe, we were determined to make a positive contribution. In support of the global effort to ‘flatten the curve,’ and of key workers on the frontline, our Gloucester team deftly turned their hands to the production of much-needed personal protective equipment for the National Health Service.

In a matter of weeks, our production line was recalibrated from making luxury British-made shirts to manufacturing medical-grade scrubs, all the while, maintaining proper levels of social distancing. After procuring the necessary equipment, we set to work proudly producing more than 6,000 sets of scrubs. Collaborating with fellow Royal Warrant holder and distribution partner, Alexandra, distributing our scrubs to frontline healthcare professionals and practices.

Our workrooms, where every one of their shirts is proudly made, have since resumed production of our esteemed Ready-to-Wear, Made to Measure and Bespoke shirting lines.
