Style With Confidence

Posted 21.10.19  - Style

We recently collaborated with City A.M. Club to host a talk all around styling with confidence and why investing in quality is the future of fashion.

With a panel consisting of our Creative Director Becky French, Bilgehan ‘Han’ Ates of Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, Aleks Cvetkovic of HandCut Radio and etiquette consultant Jo Bryant, talking points centred around the role that confidence plays when it comes to styling, knowing the rules and when to break them, as well as an exclusive look at the new Silk Shirt Collection.

The rules of dress have become significantly more relaxed in the modern age, and in-turn, so has the attire. Style today is increasingly becoming about self-confidence and knowing how to carry ourselves. The growing spotlight on sustainability and ethical practice, too, has made a significant impact on purchasing behaviour - with a shift in quality over trend. Timeless pieces that are made—and made well—that are built to last and designed to look effortless, are some of the key things to consider when it comes to thinking about your personal brand.

Detail and quality are something particularly championed by Han of Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, who set up the workshop because, quite frankly, he couldn’t find a well-made pair of denim jeans. It was this relentless determination for unrivalled quality craftsmanship which inspired us to collaborate with the atelier for our jeans. Becky further nodded to the synergy between Blackhorse Lane and Turnbull, informing guests about our previous shirtmaking workroom which was located a stone's throw away from the current atelier in Walthamstow.

Etiquette expert Jo Bryant raised the important point that in order to break the rules, one has to know what the rules are to begin with. Speaking from experience, Aleks agreed and shared his anecdote of going to a strictly black tie event in an all-blue outfit, complete with a pair of electric blue suede shoes. Never again was the same mistake made.

Following the conversation and Q&A, guests were invited to an exclusive first-look of the recently released Silk Shirt capsule collection, with drinks being supplied by our friends at Berry Bros. & Rudd.
